A Friend Indeed

Scripture (John 15:13) “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

We hear many stories of how a soldier lays their life down so others may live. In fact, the motto for the US Air Force PJ’s is “so others may live.” They put their lives on the line on each call so others may live. Some of the soldiers live, and some perish despite their efforts. There are similarities to these stories and to the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross. Each has made a sacrifice for their friends. Some live and some perish. But the major difference is earthly and everlasting. There are those whom Jesus made the sacrifice for that live because they have trusted in Him. Others perish because they reject the gift of our most High God. Are we that friend? That friend to those who are lost that need the word of God? Are we willing to sacrifice our fears and our feelings so others may live? He did, will you?

Prayer prompt: My precious and Heavenly Father, great is Your love for us. For You sent Your Son so we may live. A true friend I have in Jesus who loves me despite my sins. Give me the courage to speak, wisdom to know, and strength when I am weak. May I continue to be an ambassador of the Kingdom and bear much fruit, honoring and glorifying Your name. May Your works in me be a blessing to others, in Jesus name. Amen
