Day 38: Kingdom Minded

Scripture: (Philippians 3:12-14) Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Author: Anna Kate Reed

One of my favorite characters in the Bible is Paul, not merely because he wrote almost half the New Testament or led many people to the Lord but because of what he said in Philippians 3 once he achieved those things.

“No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus is calling us.”

Paul was so kingdom minded that his focus was on what else he could do for the Lord, rather than the credit he could receive for what he already did. As believers, we should strive to give God the glory for everything we accomplish here on earth, because without Him we wouldn’t be able to accomplish anything. Humility is the one word that summed up Paul’s journey here on earth. After reading that passage, I ask myself two things, is there something I’m doing and not giving God the credit for? And what else can I do that will have an eternal impact?
