Day 36: "God’s Got Us"

Scripture: Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Psalm 50:15 Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you where you go.

Author: Stephanie Mitchener

Our world is constantly changing and redefining everything that we once held so dear. Everyone has their own opinion about right and wrong, so much so that it’s hard for some to know what the “truth” really is. Over the last couple of years, it seems that changes have occurred in warp speed leaving us feeling afraid and alone. However, our heavenly Father wants something totally different for us. He desires that we feel strong and courageous when the world around us is going crazy. He has given us His Word to teach us that He is always with us, and we have no need to fear. He is our strength, and He will uphold us during these trying times.

For this to work according to His plan, we must be grounded in His Word so that when fear and uncertainty creep in about the future, we can recall scripture and be reminded of God’s faithfulness. We know that nothing catches Him off guard, but we need to remind ourselves of this truth.  Jesus holds our future, not someone serving in a political office. We need to be confident that even if things never go back to “normal,” that we will be ok because God is in control, and everything has filtered through God’s loving hand before it ever reaches us.

Even when we are overwhelmed and aren’t sure what to pray, He’s got us covered. Jesus is interceding on our behalf. I love the reminder we find in Romans 8:26-28 “Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.….” Such a great truth to reassure us all. God’s got us. He’s there for us even when we don’t know what to pray. He has never been caught off guard and although things are seemingly getting worse and worse, we don’t have to be afraid because none of it caught God by surprise.

When you catch yourself getting overwhelmed, pray and remind yourself of these truths:

He is faithful and dependable

Psalm 100:5 For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting. And His faithfulness to all generations.

He is trustworthy

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments. He knows everything we do and think.

Psalm 139: 1-6 O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.

He sees us wherever we are

Psalm 139: 7-12 Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.

He created us and knew us intimately

Psalm 139:13-16 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

He’s got us

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. He has made a way for us to spend eternity in heaven

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Let’s remind ourselves that God is in control, and He has allowed us to be alive during this time so that we can reassure others that He is worth following and trusting. He has been faithful for generations and will continue for generations to come.
