Day 35: Trust

Scripture: (Proverbs 3:5-6) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him and He will make straight your paths.

Author: Marcia Reese

This verse sounds so simple, yet it is so difficult to live out.  Our flesh wants to be in control, and we don’t want to wait on anything, even God.  It is easier to trust in God when things are going well, but when things don’t go the way, we think they should, we often choose to jump in without waiting on God.  When we do jump in to fix a situation, we usually make a mess and then act like God has forsaken or forgotten about us.  When He deems the time right, God can still use the mess we made. We may still not see the result we wanted, but God and his timing will have provided us with what we need. When we choose to wait on God and listen to him and trust his way, we will have peace and not have to be concerned about messing up.

I know there have been situations I have prayed for, but it seemed like God wasn’t answering.  When I found out the situation, I was praying about had changed, I was upset because the answer wasn’t the way I thought it should be. I wanted God to do what I wanted, and not what He needed to do. Thinking we know best and not trusting God can lead to so much frustration. After some time had passed, I could look back and see how God was answering my prayer but in a different way.

When we set back and just let God do his work in his way and time, life is so much better.
