Day 27: Focus First

Scripture: (Matthew 6:33) But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Where does your mind go when you first wake up? Phone? Or throne? If we are honest in this day and age the phone is the first thing we reach for when our eyes pop open. It’s become our constant companion, sadly crowding out the one who seeks to be our top priority.  Elohim our creator God deserves our focus.

Discipline yourself to look to God the first thing when you wake up, be thankful He has given you another day of life. Praise Him for who He is before your feet even hit the floor. It doesn’t have to be a 30-minute devotional just acknowledge where you are putting your focus as you begin your day. Whatever has your focus has your heart.

Ask Him to create a clean heart in you so that He can use you. Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. You don’t want any sin in your life to come between you and your Savior.  He will not hear you if there is unconfessed sin in your life. Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.

Seek His direction for the day. Commit to obedience as He opens opportunities for you to serve Him.  Be aware of God given appointments, people He will put in your path for you to minister to. We are here for His purposes not our own. Where is your focus?

Do you believe God has a plan for you and that you can trust Him with every aspect of it?

Are you living like you really believe His promises? Do you know His promises or are you settling for a mediocre life?  It all starts with where you have your focus. Don’t get sidetracked with all the distractions of life.

Determine that you will exercise this discipline in your life, it will not be easy but it will be worth it. Proverbs 8:17 I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me find Me.  You can't out give God He will multiply back your time.

Start your day and end your day focused on the only one who really matters and is worthy of our praise.
