Day 21: I Get To!

Scripture: (I Thessalonians 5:16,17,18.)  “Always be Joyful.” (V.16) “Always keep praying.” (V.17) “No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”  (V.18)

Author:  Corky Bailey

(Life’s drudgeries … UGH!)  This attitude adjustment is what we all need when it comes to “the have to” chores we are assigned.  For example, the mundane things like grocery shopping, laundry, yard mowing, cooking, shuffling kids, working, serving, and attending church, etc. What if we changed our verbiage from “I have to” to “I get to” do these things we dread?  Dread can be an attitude of depending upon ourselves instead of relying on and trusting in God to help us.  We know “HE will give us the strength to do all things.” (Philippians 4:13)

As you begin the new year, start your “I have to do this” in exchange for “I get to do this,” and thank and praise God for His provisions!  Remember to rejoice and be joyful for food, clothes, a home with a yard, the ability to cook, a car to taxi, a job to go to, and the freedom to worship and serve the Lord in many other ways.

Let’s change a “negative” into a “positive” as it is an honor and privilege to “get to!”

(Colossians 3:23 – “And whatsoever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men.”)
