Day 18: Strive together

Scripture: (Romans 15:30) Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christs sake, and for the love of the spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me.

One of the biggest challenges for me when praying is being self-centered, which consists of making a prayer all about myself and only thinking of my needs and tasks for the day. In Romans chapter 15 the Apostle Paul gives us a different perspective. In verse 30 he tells us that we are to pray out of love for the Holy Spirit because He is worthy.

We should seek His face before we seek His hand. Learning that worship and prayer are all about God and not us is key to a spiritual peace. Denzel Washington once stated “When I put God first, God takes care of me and energizes me to do what really needs to be done”. Matthew 6:33 says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Dear God, you are almighty I come in your presence seeking you first, knowing that you are Jehovah Jireh. I ask that you give me the wisdom and guidance to stay focused on you even when my schedule becomes busy.
