Day 16: The Knowledge of God

Scripture: (Proverbs 2:3-5) “indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”

As a father to young children, I find that many of the daily interactions that take place in my home are directed towards helping my children understand why they should listen and obey their Mom and I. Usually the reasons can be narrowed down to safety, compassion for others, and our faith, but there are also times where the phrase “because I said so” is the only reason given.

Although we do not typically seek understanding from the Lord while kicking and screaming, I often wonder how I am perceived to an all-knowing God when I believe my own discernment to be sufficient. It must be difficult for Him to see us in our struggles trying to sort out all of life’s issues under our own power while He already knows the answers to our problems.

Difficult situations will arise and in our own inferiority we do not always understand why. Luckily for us, the Bible tells us that if we seek the knowledge of God, we will find it. During this time of prayer,

we should all focus on reaching out for the knowledge of God and strengthening our faith in the perfect Father’s desire to do what is best for us.
