Day 30: Happy Renew Year

Scripture: Psalm 51:10, 2 Corinthians 4:16, Ephesians 4:23

Author: Gayle Easter

Happy New Year!  I always think of renewal for the new year.  How can I make “renewal” last past the first month of the year?

While looking back on my spiritual walk, I often ask “where have I seen real change in my life?  How did that change happen? “I suppose, in one word, the answer would be “renewal.”

Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart:   and RENEW a right spirit within me.”  He knows my sin.  I can’t hide that from Him – my thoughts, actions, attitudes.  I must “come clean” with God and let Him RENEW my thoughts, actions, and attitudes.

2 Corinthians 4:16 “But though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is RENEWED day by day.”  Notice the word “daily.”  On point.  On purpose.  No pretense.  How does that happen?  The preceding verse tells us that this amazing grace that we all have been given is for the glory of God.  We exist for the glory of God.  That is my daily purpose.

Ephesians 4:23 “And be RENEWED in the spirit of your mind.”  In other words, change how I think!

It’s amazing what renewal accomplishes.  Just as good news refreshes us, so does renewed hope and trust in the Lord.  Often it seems that good news and bad news converge on us all at the same time.  But we must always remember that “They that wait upon the Lord shall RENEW their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
